Utica Community Schools is joining school districts from across the country in recognizing Teachers Appreciation Week.
Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts about their favorite teacher using the hashtag #UCSteachers.
The district will be sharing some of the stories on its Facebook
To recognize the work and dedication of UCS teachers, the Board of Education has set Tuesday, May 9 at National Teacher Day. Below is the resolution that was unanimously adopted by the Board:
WHEREAS, UCS teachers are committed to exemplary teaching and learning in order for our students to be prepared for success in the 21st Century; and
WHEREAS, UCS teachers engage student achievement with the expectation that every student will pursue some type of post-high school educational endeavor; and
WHEREAS, UCS teachers encourage and empower each and every student to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to be successful, to have the competitive edge global competitors seek and to be contributing members of a diverse community and global society; and
WHEREAS, teachers fill many roles: as listeners, explorers, role models, motivators and mentors; and
WHEREAS, teachers seed a lifetime of knowledge and influence us long after our school days are only memories;
THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Utica Community Schools Board of Education proclaims Tuesday, May 9, 2017 as National Teacher Day.
